Walk was so good today. Arrived in Logroño about 1pm and went for a beer until check-in time at 2pm. Walked alone mostly but spoke to a few Americans on the way. It's really entertaining to hear them trying to pronounce Logroño. 😂 (Low Grow No)

Well I have to say, in all fairness, at the end of the day....and without a shadow of a doubt.....that walk was magnificent. Not particularly beautiful in parts but I really enjoyed it. I forgot to start the video tracking straight away so I reckon it was 30km.En savoir plus

VoyageurAye it was mushroom and prawn with garlic on a bit of toasted bread Also had a bacon one similar then one with egg and morcilla which is like black pudding. €3 pintxo including a glass of wine😁

Logroño to Ventosa

Room was pretty shit last night but slept well thanks to the Vino Tinto. Took me an hour to do the 15 minute walk back to the Pensìon thanks to Google Maps. Had brekkie and headed off through Logroño. Took me 2 hours to get out of the City....walked through a MASSIVE park that was never ending.
The walk in the park was no walk in the park.
Got to Navarette in time for the game. Wifi was useless so I gave up.
There was a wine festival on in Navarette. That was where it started to go wrong. Met Cal from South Carolina and Jordi from Barcelona. It was €10 for 8 tickets for wine. €5 for a paella ticket. I had 2 wines and paella. Then met Gabriel from Italy and Anna from Sweden and the 3 of us walked on together. It was a great time until Anna and me missed the turn for our town and we nearly walked to Nájera. Had to walk back which was tough. Got to the hostel and they told me I didn't have a booking despite me showing the WhatsApp conversation
Had to do an emergency booking at the nearest available place. Got a text there (25km) and the same guy will pick me up tomorrow to take me back to the same place. Tomorrow I walk to Santo Domingo de la Calzada which seems to be a cool placeEn savoir plus

Nàjera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada

Slept well. It was really difficult communicating with the guy in the accommodation (La Cepa). I think he was South American and had a speech impediment so it was a real struggle to understand his Spanish.

Had to start late as it's Sunday and the earliest taxi I could get to the starting point was 9.30am. Just stopped once today for about 30mins. It was in Azofra for coffee and water. It rained most of the day and was really cold. Think it's going to be like that for the next few days.
Booked an amazing hotel and had a long bath.
Laundrette time again and it was busy. Got speaking to folk in there and 5 of us shared a machine. (2 South Koreans , 1 Spanish, 1 Italian) This is a lovely old town.. Loads of local families out for food. Had dinner with 6 Italians and a German. Was able to speak to Jakub from Germany, Miguel from Bologna and Gabriel from Roma as they spoke English/Spanish. Mushroom festival was amazing. Was chatting to Julianna from Brazil/Portugal/Holland and Maria from San Sebastian for ages. We met in the Laundrette earlier🤣. 22km to Belorado tomorrow. Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado

Left a bit later today so I could enjoy the great room I had. Standard tortilla and coffee brekkie before I left. Walked alone which was great. Spoke to Lucy Oz and Kira CAN in Villafranca and the London/Madrid couple in Grañon. The walk was easy. I'm on schedule to arrive in Santiago about 5 days too early so going to have a couple of days in Burgos soon. I'll be able to catch up with some Camigos and Camigas there😉
Moved from La Rioja to Castillo y Leon areas today.
Had an incredible Peregrino menu for €12.50 with Tazmanian and Canadian friends. Best food I've had. Soup then cod then ice cream. Met Italian and Basque friends afterwardsEn savoir plus

Belorado to San Juan de Ortega

Started late and it was an easy walk to San Juan. Weather cold but didn't have to have my gloves on all day like the last few days so it was easier to take photos etc. Met Gabriel, Maria, Katie, Rowena and Annie when I got to the first bar. Gabriel's last day tomorrow so there's a few folk meeting up in Burgos for food and drinks then. I think I will probably have 3 nights in Burgos to meet up with friends. It will prepare me for the Meseta which can be a mentally challenging stretch of the Camino. It's 13km off Camino to my accommodation tonight. The bar owner said he'd take me when the bar got quiet. Scallop shell

The scallop shell is a symbol of the Camino. Most pilgrims have one on their backpack. I got a tartan one made at home🙂
