    Cruise ends & Luxor begins!

    We left the ship early in the morning to look at Karnak temple. I was so sleep-deprived by this time I was a bit grumpy. I apologized the next day to our leader Mohammed.

    Anyway, Karnak is so impressive. Karnak was a temple built by many of the Egyptian kings and queens. Each ruler added another layer to the temple and sometimes even erased some of the remnants of the previous rulers (see Thutmoses III and Hatshepsut!) or even stole unfinished statues and claimed them for themselves! Avenue of the sphinxes was cool as well, there are still over 1100 sphinxes left of the original 1200!

    Went to the Temple of Luxor in the evening and saw the more grand obelisks, hypostyle/colonnades, temples, and early Coptic Christians (again) using the temples for refuge from the Romans (before Christianity became the official religion in Rome). Alexander the Great even gave himself a shoutout, Egyptian style, to show he was supreme.
