  • Before Leaving Yellowstone RV Resort

    July 12, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Walking Rosie at sunset, a task we both enjoy, I decided to take a "loop" and walk out of the resort, east on the approach road, and "sneak" into the resort from the back side. I'll acknowledge that this "footprint" is for my recollection alone as I decided I needed some images and notes so when I'm sitting at home and no longer traveling, I really want to remember the beauty I've experienced.

Frankly, this is a less than a high-quality RV park. HOWEVER, where it sits boggles the mind in beauty, majesty and subtleness in its incredible views. Maybe it's just that I haven't traveled the interior of the US that much (a bucket list I'm striving to resolve), but tonight, it struck me that I have rarely, if ever seen this kind of overwhelming beauty...just farmland, but what farmland. So meticulously cared for, the miles and miles of wheat (I assume) and miles and miles of incredible irrigation systems...

So these pictures are for me and my memory, but I think anyone that really looks at them (zoom in, I recommend it) will see a small part of what I've experienced....

  • North Thru Yellowstone to Bozeman, MT

    July 15, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Departed Ashland, ID, drove south to Jackson Hole and then north thru Yellowstone Park. Drive took double the time as it would've going direct, but well worth it. Very happy we didn't spend a lot of time, if at all, in Jackson Hole...complete tourist trap. Beautiful views of the Tetons from the east; much better than from the west.

Arrived Bozeman mid-afternoon plenty of time to get set up and hook up with the Christian's any their farm. Nice evening.

Rosie woke up early as if she knew it was a travel day...

Landscape pics on the trip back....incredible amounts of river activity...

  • Ramshorn Lake, MT

    July 17, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

Horsehide up to Ramshorn Lake, MT... I's only accessible via horse, up narrow trails that go from meadow to meadow and up pretty sheer cliffs. Got to trust the horse while it's on a 2' wide edge and crossing multiple creeks.... It's about a 3,000' climb and about 12 miles to the lake. We went thru a few rain storms, mostly little cloud bursts, until we got the last horse back into the trailer and the bottom dropped out....

Speaking of bottoms, mine is going to take a few days to recover from the 7 hour, 24 mile ride.... Going up was "OK"... coming down was incredibly painful but what else ar ya gonna do - walk?

These pictures really don't do the grander justice...it's simply breathtaking.

Sincere thanks to Dana and Mary Christian for putting up with Rosie and I over the past few days. Their hospitality is over the top and their lifestyle is breath taking.... The pictures that follow are only ONE of hundreds and hundreds of trails and destinations in this stunningly beautiful part of America.... It's easy to see what Lewis & Clark saw when they came through....I just can't believe how difficult it would've been to somehow portray it to Thomas Jefferson...you just can't put it into words...

  • Crazy Horse Monument

    July 20, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Headed to Crazy Horse Monument...(Found a really nice day care for Rosie "Yuppy Puppy Doggie Daycare")

The monument's a work in progress and access is only allowed to lower areas. Pretty amazing though. The sculptor also worked on Mt. Rushmore and was asked by multiple Indian Chiefs to create this one. It's now in 3rd generation family and will go on for decades.Read more

  • Bucket List Alert! - Mt. Rushmore

    July 20, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

What an incredible monument. Awe inspiring.....

Facility is very, very well presented... Nothing like the Hitchcock movie "North By Northwest" but that was decades ago...

    $10 for parking (senior citizen's get $5.00 ;-)

Access to monument is free,,,,as it should be...

I rented the walking tour recordings, well worth $6.00. It made the entire experience so much more understandable. Unfortunately, more than half the walking area was closed due to "construction"...oh well.
