    Train to Bangkok

    March 1 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Richard and I rolled up to the train station in Surat Thani and managed to procure some straggler tickets in cart 10. With the only “air conditioning” coming from the lazy ceiling fans and whipping winds of the open windows, we were in for a long night. 11 hours is undoubtedly the longest train ride either of us had experienced, and it was a bit surreal. Lots of people watching and following random trails of thought as the lack of sleep began to show its evidence.

At 5am the next morning, we were happy to reunite with Frankie and D’Artagnan (our bikes). Due to some translation issues, we weren’t entirely sure our bikes were going to make it to Bangkok with us. But alas, the worrying was for nothing!

We had some coffee and did some sleep deprived wandering before checking into our hotel and sleeping from 5:30pm until the next morning. Our time in Bangkok has flown by, tomorrow we test out another train ride toward Cambodia. Fingers crossed that our border crossing goes smoothly!
