We decided to go on a bikepacking trip to one of the seven paalkamperen sites in Haspengouw that were opened on 1 June (the first day of our trip). These basic campsites are free and consist of a few wooden platforms for pitching tents, a "composttoilet" (long-drop) and a "handpomp met stromend water" (if you are lucky :)). At some sites you are also allowed to make a campfire, but this was not the case with ours.Read more
