The land of geysers, thermal pools, wildlife and crowds! We spent three days exploring Yellowstone park. We had a convenient site located between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. Our first day at the park we explored everything geysers starting with a trip to Old Faithful. Everywhere you looked there was a stack of steam or bubbling water from a thermal pool. We did a little exploring around the campground and Dada found a trail that led directly to a hot spring. We were able to dip our toes in for a few seconds.
Yellowstone isn't exactly a swimming park, most of the water areas are freezing, boiling or protected waters for the microorganisms that live there. We went off the beaten path a bit and found a great swimming stream equipped with a little pool for lounging.
One evening the kids made quick friends with the kids in the neighboring campsite. They were visiting from Hong Kong and heading back overseas to their new home in New Zealand. They loved our outdoor movie set up with Yogi Bear as the feature film. They spent the night with us and watched the film.
On the way out of Yellowstone we visited the Northern part of the park and made a stop at another visitor centre and checked out the Mammoth Springs. It was well with the stop to check out the travertine terraces which differed significantly from the other hot springs in the rest of the park.
