• Taidnapam Park and Mount Rainier

    4–8 sep. 2024, Förenta staterna ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Taidnapam Park may have been Amy's favorite park (although it's not the first time it's been proclaimed). The park is very well maintained by Tacoma Utilities with tall trees, large paved sites and a few trails. This was our first stop since back-to-school and it was noticeably quieter. The park had awesome playgrounds and sprinklers and we undoubtedly the only family there.

Our back-to-school started with a visit to Mount Rainier National Park. We hit the visitor center first and everyone got to work on their Jr. Ranger booklets. We watched a film about the park, the mountain/volcano and it's glaciers. We also joined a guided hike with ranger Simon and learned about three gifts that glaciers give (Wildflowers, Destruction and Animals). We found a nice picnic spot and the kids finished their Jr. Ranger work. After pledging the oath we found a short hike to a beautiful waterfall (Silver falls) .

Amy was very excited to be heading to Cannon Beach next so we seized the opportunity to have an outdoor screening of the Goonies. It was pretty magical backdrop with tall trees, a raging fire and a starry night. Next stop...The Pacific!
