• Redwood Forest! Home of the big trees!

    Sep 13–16, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We've seen some big trees on our travels but nothing compares to the GIANTS that live in the Redwood Forest. We knew we were in for a treat when we entered the forest and the trees along the road were notched out for vehicles to pass safely by. The kids quickly discovered that hollow and downed 100 feet trees make for a perfect natural playground. Our first day of exploring we did a handful of short hikes to get different view points of the Redwoods. Each discovery, cooler than the last. It's not hard to see why many movies were filmed here. William was especially interested in the Star Wars movies that took centre stage in the forest.
Back at our campground in Klamath we met another family who just started a year long adventure. The girls were instant best friends and then we found out Willow's new best friend was Willa! Willow had forgotten to ask her new found friend her name!
Our second day wouldn't be complete without a trip to the infamous Fern Canyon which was also the set of scenes in Jurassic Park. The kids bolted up the ancient canyon that was lined with beautiful fern walls. Beautiful scenery and new friends made this a very special stop!
