• Happy Thanksgiving from The Grand Canyon

    13.–16. okt. 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Our stay at the Grand Canyon was an eventful one! We snagged a free BLM camping spot for 3 nights in the Kahbib National Forest right on the doorstep of Grand Canyon National Park. Our spot was very private with lots of space to roam around, it was a perfect landscape to celebrate Thanksgiving. Our first full day we hung around our site and prepared Thanksgiving dinner. The smoker and generator was running steady while veggies were getting prepped inside. Everyone agreed that is was a great feast and it reminded us a bit of Lakesgiving without the waterfront view.
After we were full of turkey we headed into the park on the second day to explore the Grand Canyon. We hit up the visitor center to grab some Junior Ranger books and then did a short rim walk to the geology museum. The walk had expansive views of the canyon with easy trails. We checked out Hopi House to see the Apache Dancers! We lucked out visiting the GC during Indigenous weekend and there were lots of fun things going on. We wanted to check out the scenic drive up to Hermit's Rest but it was only accessible via shuttle so we decided to hop on. We went to the end of the line checking our view points along the way. All in all we had a great visit to an iconic American landmark!
