Utah is the home to the Big 5 National Parks all in the Southern region of the state. When doing our trip planning we made a point to include all 5 parks to our list. First stop is Zion National Park which we learned is one of the most crowded parks in the NPS. We hunkered down in White Bison Zion Park for our stay. This was a brand new RV park that had great views, sports courts and close proximity to Zion. The kids had a blast playing pickleball, basketball and ladder golf at the campground. Once we managed to peel them away from that we enjoyed a nice scenic hike at Zion. It was the Watchman hike and the trailhead was at the visitor center. We lucked out the first day by actually finding a parking spot. In the evening we explored a bit of the town and had a nice meal at a Mexican restaurant and the kids played a bit at the playground. We were fortunate to see the moon rise over the rocks from the playground.
The next day we weren't so lucky with our parking situation. Our second day in the park we decided to give the most popular hike, The Narrows, a try. Most hikers rented waders and waterproof footwear to venture up the Virgin River through the Canyon. A ranger recommended to not waste our money and just see how far you get and turnaround. Pretty solid advice as Willow lost her footing pretty early on and got soaked which meant it was time to turn around. After that it was back onto the shuttle, walk to the parking lot and drive back to the campground for some relaxation.
Our last day we ventured up into the mountains to see some less busy areas of Zion. We enjoyed a scenic drive with great views and lots of snow. We pulled over so the kids could get back to their Canadian roots and play with some snow. It was pretty beautiful to see the yellow trees flanked with fresh fluffy white stuff!
