• Alabama Gulf State Park 🌊

    28 nov.–1 dec. 2024, Förenta staterna ⋅ ☀ 20 °C

We took advantage of our short drive from Biloxi and made a pit stop at the USS Alabama. We spent a few hours touring a WWII submarine and war ship. The kids loved checking out the bunks and the guns...there was so many guns!!
We made it to Alabama Gulf Shores state park right at sunset. We were all amazed how big the state park was, they even had hotels and restaurants. That evening was Thanksgiving, we spent some time walking around the campground checking out the light displays.
The next morning we set out on our bikes to explore the miles and miles of bike trails. Each trail had a playground along the way so it was easy to convince Willow to keep biking. We ended our bike ride at the park's nature center where we were able to check out live owls, snakes, bats and baby alligators.
Our last day at Gulf shores we decided to finally eat at a Waffle House. The boys were amazed at the number of waffle houses as we made our way through the south. Once we were in town we did a bit of a supply run. Back at the campground we biked to the beach which was a trail of elaborate boardwalks and bridges. It wasn't hard to see why Gulf shores claims to be the nicest beach in America! White sands as far as you can see with beautiful shells, green water and incredible sunsets. We played for a bit on the beach, caught the sunset and headed back to the camper as our feet were getting numb. We ended the night with a Christmas decorating party, eggnog and a Christmas movie. It's beginning to feel a lot like a camper Christmas!!
