• It's Christmas in the Keys 🎄🏝️🌊

    6 Disember 2024, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

The Florida Keys is exactly what you would imagine- blue water, palm trees, chill vibes and Jimmy Buffet blaring from every corner. Okay maybe Margaritaville isn't playing on repeat but all of the stereotypes delivered in a good way. We spent 4 nights at the Jolly Roger RV resort located in Marathon which is mid-way in the keys region. Jolly Roger was a perfect base with its heated pool, decorated palm trees and beach area with sunset views. We took full advantage of the pool each day while taking breaks only to go to the beach and Key West.
Our first day we checked out Sombrero Beach which offered beautiful blue water, shells, snorkeling and a calm bay for paddle boarding. Weston spent most of his day paddling around and offering board tours to anyone who would hop on. We all took some turns with the snorkel mask and googles and checked out the local fish in the shallow reef that was steps from the beach. We even saw a Barracuda!
Day 2 we ventured down the keys to the vibrant city of Key West. Once we found parking we hiked over to the "most southern point" in the US. We opted to snap a picture on the pier instead of the sign as there was a line winding down the street. The next stop was Mallory Square to see the street performers and the sunset ceremony. There was lots to see along the way, we made a quick stop at mile marker 0 for a sticker and a beer. The kids found a great souvenir shop that had a big selection of tropical print shirts! The boys picked one out for themselves and all of their friends! Once we made it to the square we watched a street performer and then it was time for the sunset ceremony!Everyone gathered to watch the sun and the boats lining the landscape. The kids cheered "go sun, go sun, go sun!!" as if it needed some encouragement to go down. After the cheers we were all getting hungry so we headed to a local seafood restaurant for some grub. Two Friends Patio ticked all the boxes for a local experience; live musician, wandering chickens, tiki lights, fresh cocktails and cheering football fans. On the walk back to the truck we marveled at all the Christmas decorations! Local residents didn't stop at their porches even their bicycles were decked out with lights and tinsel!
On our last day in paradise we chilled at the pool and made another stop at Sombrero Beach.
