Fort Wilderness @ Walt Disney World 🏰

You know you are going to have a magical Disney vacation when the security guard welcomes you "home" upon check in! Fort Wilderness is hands down a bucket list stop for camping Disney lovers. Upon arrival we were in awe of the decked out campsites that were in full holiday spirit mode. Hundreds and hundreds of inflatable Disney characters lined most campsites. Fort Wilderness campers take so much pride in decorating their sites for the holidays. We were admiring one site that had 100+ inflatables and I asked her if she did the same thing at home? She responded "Nope I only do this here. I come every year at Christmas and it brings me so much joy to see the kids naming all the characters as they walk by!" Not sure I would go through that effort but we all enjoyed the display each day. The Gingerbread man costume even got some action throughout the campground!
Our first full day at the park we headed over to Magic Kingdom. The boat transportation couldn't have been more seamless! A quick boat ride over to Magic Kingdom and you are at the gates of the park. We started with the newest ride, Tron. Willow was delighted that she is now 48" inches and could partake in the fun! The day was spent with some old favorites and some new experiences. We were a bit bummed that we missed out on Tiana's Bayou Adventure. First we were evacuated from the ride after it broke down and later in the day we waited again and the ride had another breakdown which resulted in a closure for the rest of the day. All in all it was a magical day at the happiest place on Earth.
Next up was a first for everyone...Universal Studios. We thought it only made sense to check it out as Harry Potter is now a favorite with the boys. We were all absolutely blown away by how amazing The wizarding world of Harry Potter is. The alleys, the shops with floor to ceiling HP merch, the charming English structures is enough to make you feel like you (and your closest thousand friends) stepped into Hogsmede. With our express pass we managed to ride all the rides in HP world. The resounding favorite for everyone was Hagrid's Motorbike adventure. No trip to Universal could be complete without a trip to Springfield which is where we parked for lunch at Moe's Tavern. Universal has so much to offer for bigger kids that are seeking a bit more for thrill rides! We will definitely go back!
We spent our last day of vacation exploring Fort Wilderness. Well that was the plan, we ended up spending most time at the pool. We took full advantage of the pool deck entertainment; Disney trivia, name that character, duck races and other fun games. After the pool we ate and got ready for the Chip n' Dale campfire sing along. The kids were delighted to see the infamous chipmunks and we all enjoyed signing along to our favorite Christmas carols. After the chipmunks went to bed the outdoor screening of The Incredibles started. As if the night wasn't magical enough, we spotted a shooting star during the movie. We hope to be lucky enough to camp at Fort Wilderness again someday! Czytaj więcej
