Farewell Romania 👋 (and driving 🚙)

“What I like about Europe so far is that there is one button in the hotel room that turns off everything! How have we not thought of that?” Says an American at the table next to me for breakfast on my last morning in Romania. I’d put the people, old towns, castles, different cultures and beautiful scenery on my “what I like about Europe so far” list.

I’m in Cluj-Napoca after my week of driving around Romania and I’m exhausted! I bit off a bit more than this city slicker driver could handle in a week. Mainly because my planning had me only driving around 2hrs a day, but that quickly blew out due to Romanian roads & traffic. It’s intense. If I was able to share the driving it would have been ok, but for a solo trip it was too much.

I still enjoyed the journey but had a quiet morning and late check out today to recuperate a little. I must say I was very happy to return the rental car and be done with driving. I even got a €21 voucher for returning too much fuel. Doubt that will ever get used again 😂.

So now I wait at the airport for my flight to Hamburg (via Warsaw) very early but enjoying the downtime and not having to do anything or be anywhere for a few hours.Leggi altro
