Fulda and auf Wiedersehen Deutschland

Arrived Fulda. No Soviet tanks in sight. All is well...

I was excited to pass through Fulda on our trip back to Frankfurt, being the history nerd that I am. Our train was a bit late, but that was fine, because our flight was delayed by four hours. We did get twenty Euros each for food though, so nice job Discover/Lufthansa.

Some bad through the window shots from a high speed train pictures of the trip to Frankfurt. Flight was uneventful, but a very long eight plus hours. We were both happy to be back in Philly. Even immigration was fast and efficient.

Final thoughts. Definitely liked Saxony. Dresden is a beautiful city. I wish we had more time in some places, like Bautzen, but that's always the way. I would like to return to the Erzgebirge in warmer weather to hike and see more of the area. Maybe a combination of that and Czech Republic since it's right there. We shall see.

Next up for non-US travel: the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt with its historically significant towns of Quedlinburg and Goslar, and to see the heather blooming on Lüneburg Heath.Read more
