    Athens

    20 Mayıs 2024, Yunanistan ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Phew, it’s hot, dusty and fabulous here. We’ve walked quite a few miles today around the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus, the National Garden (where we saw a tortoise ambling about) and caught the Changing of the Guard at Parliament House (where we saw Miss Universe wander by!) Headed out to the pool for a beer and a swim about now….Okumaya devam et

  • Kefalonia

    22 Mayıs 2024, Yunanistan ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After our first night on the ship we have arrived on the island of Kefalonia. . The ship is incredibly quiet and still at night, you have no idea you are cruising at about 22 knots, zooming along in your huge comfy bed. Saw some huge turtles swimming in the harbour, joined a bus tour of old folk (us!) and visited a monastery, a cute village and a winery up in the mountains. Finishing our afternoon in town with wine and spanakopita before we reboard. A good day out, weather is sunny and fine.Okumaya devam et

  • Corfu

    23 Mayıs 2024, Hırvatistan ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Corfu was lovely. Went for a 10km hike through old olive groves and villages. Had a traditional snack and kept going until finishing at a beach with a swim and a beer. A perfect day out, the weather is sunny and warm and the sea is flat, couldn’t ask for more.Okumaya devam et

  • Dubrovnik

    24 Mayıs 2024, Hırvatistan ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Gorgeous day. Walked from the port into the old town, then walked the circumference of the walls- decided a bus back would be a good idea! Averaging about 8- 10kms a day at this rate which isn’t a bad thing as the food onboard is pretty good.
Having said that, we had cevapcici and burek for lunch which was all I needed to do, just need to find some Slivovitz and I’ll be done!

  • Zadar, Trieste, Riyeka

    25 Mayıs 2024, Hırvatistan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Another 3 days, another 30kms, more cevapcici and burek- life’s good! Zadar was interesting- did the 260 steps up the bell tower😅 Yesterday in Trieste saw a couple of amazing castles and had some great girl shopping opportunities! Today we’re back in Croatia and wandering the streets of Rijeka- more Roman ruins, more wine, more fabulous food. Cruising life is suiting me well- it’s a terribly easy way to get around! • Rijeka, Split, Kotor

    27 Mayıs 2024, Hırvatistan ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Arrived in Rijeka to a fab accordion band, great welcome to the old country! Wandering the ‘old town’ is what we seem to do each day, mainly from 13th century or so- yep, they’re old! Beautifully preserved, worn smooth cobblestones and soft colours.
We’ve seen so many school groups every day- they are very proud of their countries and heritage and want their children to learn to be too.
We hiked around the waterfalls in Krka National park in the mountains above Split, very pretty.
Started today with a tuk tuk ride around Boka Bay in Kotor, Montenegro, one of the newest countries in the world after gaining independence in 2006.
    Couldn’t pick a favourite, loving it all😍

  • Kotor, Napflion

    31 Mayıs 2024, Yunanistan ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Great fun in Kotor, driven around by a very proud tuk tuk driver; the first female hired in 6 years of operation- well done her! And she was fun and told us heaps about life In Montenegro- I’d love to go back there one day.
Had a day at sea travelling on a millpond- over the top cake selection for morning tea and a very special dinosaur towel that night!
Napflion next (back in Greece) and a wine tasting, ruins and wonderful museum in Nemea followed by lunch in the old town. Had to catch a tender to go onshore- it’s all so easy here cause there’s no wind and no waves- my kind of sailing!! Great wandering and another place I’d go back to. Would seem you can’t go far in Greece without another set of amazing ruins so back in Athens today for no ruins- just shopping and food!

  • Prego

    2 Haziran 2024, Yunanistan ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Left Greece and Katakalon for my birthday in Albania and the ruins of Butrint from about 5th century BC and a wonderful old church from about 11th century (I think??, everything is just ancient!).
Then a day at sea and on to Malta and the most amazing Co-Cathedral of the knights of St John, the most over the top and astounding building. Included a couple of paintings by Caravaggio, who by all accounts was extremely talented but a bit of a hot headed Italian guy who constantly got himself into trouble and then killed!
Arrived in Sicily this morning, another perfect day of blue skies, beer and wonderful food 😊

  • Napoli

    7 Haziran 2024, İtalya ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Cruised past the Stromboli volcano last night which obliged by spewing out some lava and sparks. Apparently, it’s been active got the last 2000 years; who knew? It was pretty cool though.
In Naples today, the home of Margherita pizza, and yes, it goes perfectly with beer and Aperol, as it should!Okumaya devam et

  • Almost ending

    8 Haziran 2024, İtalya ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

We headed to Rome for a great day, it’s nice to revisit places you’ve been before and then just enjoy wandering about and seeing where you end up. The huge statue near the port is called Unconditional Surrender to commemorate the end of WW2, its pretty cool - which is hilarious to say considering all the other statues we’ve been seeing!
Ajaccio, Corsica and the birthplace of Napoleon was a nice quiet day, we did the whole tourist thing and caught a little train for a tootle around the island- it was great!
Next to Nice and a lovely browse through a pop up antique market stalls, so so much I wanted and couldn’t have 😬 and so many stalls, the went for more than a city block.
Caught the train to Monte Carlo for a quick squiz at the rich and famous then back to our boat. Funny how easily it starts to feel like home.
A day at sea and time to relax from all that sightseeing (😆 and eat and drink yourself silly) then heading to the end of the cruise in Barcelona.

  • Barcelona

    12 Haziran 2024, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Beautiful Barcelona😍 I am loving being here, it’s an easy, welcoming city and full of colour and life.
We are spending our days wandering the old quarter and the weather is perfect, so much to see, eat, and do!
The Sagrada Familia is jaw dropping in its scale and detail, Parc Guell is fantastic, the house La Pedrera is great and the markets are enormous and it’s so hard to choose any one thing- there is so much to choose from it’s overwhelming.
It’s a city o come back to, again and again.

  • Homeward bound

    16 Haziran 2024, Ispanya ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our last days in Barcelona have been a mix of wandering laneways, getting lost and eating the best gelato of our lives.
We know our tapas favourites now and have perfected the art of lazy sleep ins, followed by brunch and a late dinner in a piazza surrounded by happy families and tourists alike.
Its an easy city to like and I’m already wondering when we might come here again, can’t wait.
    Thanks for travelling along. Xx
