  • Chilecito

    1–3 mrt. 2025, Argentinië ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Mine region with a lot of history and a great setting in the mountains. We tried a supposedly good 4x4 route, but the road was washed away by all the rain

  • Campo de Piedras Pomes & 4x4 route

    8–9 mrt. 2025, Argentinië ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

One of the most special things we have seen, big white lavastreams (petrified) in a dessert. Horrible road leading there, so almost no-one there (we also almost got stuck 😂). Beautiful wildcamp at the lavarocks, followed by a great 4x4 route around the tiny village of Antofogasta de la Sierra. Again, nobody there, just us, and quite a lot of vicuñas.Meer informatie

  • Cafayate

    10–12 mrt. 2025, Argentinië ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Cafayate is all about wine and rocks. Great wineries and wine bars, all with high altitude wines (we love tannat and torrontés) and surrounding the town beautiful rocks for great hikes. We had 2 wonderful days here! Oh.. great food also, we splurged a little here, bad for our budget, but sometimes you just have to do it ❤️.Meer informatie

  • Tucuman

    16 maart 2025, Argentinië ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

We did a little detour to Tucuman to meet with Maria Martha whom we know from Aruba. She brought Koens drivers licence. This was stolen in Chile in our first week and he has been driving through Chile, Argentina and Brazil for 5 months without a (valid) driver's license, so you can imagine how happy we were when we had it again.
    Thanks again Maria!!

  • Purmamarca

    16–17 mrt. 2025, Argentinië ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

This town is famous for its coloured mountain (7 colours). It is a very known and touristy thing, but we have already seen so many coloured mountains in Argentina that it was not that special. Still pretty though and a nice village to stay for a nightMeer informatie

  • Lake Titikaka, Copacabana

    22–25 mrt. 2025, Bolivia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Bolivian side of lake Titikaka. A sort of pretty village, quite touristy with lots of places to have a drink and enjoy the lake. We took a tour with Vidal who is an Aymara guide, but also a priest (Aymara), he took us to the islands of the moon and the sun and explained to us a lot about Aymara and Inca culture.Meer informatie

  • Puno (lake Titicaca), Peru

    26–27 mrt. 2025, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We crossed the border from Bolivia to Peru and within an hour came across beautifull rock formations where we did a nice hike. We stayed overnight at the lake, in a tiny village with pretty old buildings and of course some pre-Columbian ruins (they are everywhere 😂). Next day off to the highlight of this side of the lake, the Uros islands, manmade floating islands. Very interesting to see, generations of families have been living on these islands, at first to escape other, more violent folks and now more in a way of tourism hoping to get some income.Meer informatie

  • Arequipa

    28–31 mrt. 2025, Peru ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

It's nice to arrive in Arequipa with an altitude of 'only' 2300 meters above sea level. We can finally walk up hills again without getting exhausted immediately 😎. Our lungs are definitely not used to heights, not even after all that time in Argentina and Bolivia.
Arequipa is a very pretty city with lots of well preserved old buildings. We stay on a campground right in the middle of the city. We enjoy the buildings and mostly the good food and nice pisco sours.

  • Reserva national de Salinas

    28 maart 2025, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

From lake Titicaca to Arequipa we took the 'scenic road' which was not a very comfortable road and the first day/afternoon we couldn't enjoy much scene because of rain, mist and even snow. After a high altitude wildcamp in the rain at the side of the road we woke up the next day with sun and all was great!! We drove through a national reserve with lots of flamingos and alpacas. Thankfully it did turn out scenic.Meer informatie

  • Nazca

    2 april 2025, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

The famous Nazca lines. We didn't take a plane since we didn't think too much of them, so saw them from the road and from a platform. Also from the Nazca culture (+/- 100 BC - 800), the aquaducts that have been watering the grounds of this area for over 1500 years. I thought that was pretty impressive. Lots of olive and avocado trees in this area profiting from thisMeer informatie

  • Ica & Huacachina

    3–4 apr. 2025, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

This area is a desert with surprising green valleys and oasis. Several vineyards here where they focus mainly on Pisco, bit also make some red and white wines, so we did a few tastings. Not as good as Argentina and Chile unfortunately, but the Piscotasting was fun!
The dunes of Ica are very pretty, the oasis of Huacachina is one big tourist thing, but great for some buggydriving and sandboarding, which we did and that was FUN!!

  • Paracas

    4–7 apr. 2025, Peru ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

Paracas is one of Peru's best known kitespots so we were really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately we didn't find it that good, there is a spot in the national park that supposedly has lots of flamingos and should be fantastic to ride on, but maybe it wasn't our day, hardly any flamingo, lots of seeweed and several aggressive dogs 🥺. No other humans around though, so at least we had the place to ourselves... The spot in the town itself was also not fantastic so we left after a couple of days. I guess we have been spoiled with great spots in Brazil and of course Aruba☀️☀️.
A very nice part of Paracas were the Ballestas Islands, also called the poor mans Galapagos. Nicely formed islands with many arches and tons of birds among them tiny Humboldt pinguins.

  • Caral ruins

    10 april 2025, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

The Caral civilisation is the second oldest civilization known (after Mesopotamia) and around 5000 years old.
Here are 6 temples and a village. In the near surroundings are several other villages.
There was nobody around but us and the guide, probably because it was quite hard to get there.
