Day 1: Getting outta dodge.

Well it’s been an interesting time to get here but super excited. Thanks for following.
Day 2: Doha

Wore. Ourselves. Out. Al corniche. Islamic art museum. Katara Cultural Village for lunch. Lots of walking. Graham was terrific working out trains and trams. Found the only two underground bars whereBaca lagi
Day 2: Doha continued.

A wonderful day and lovely by night.
Day 3: Doha to Paris

Lazed by the pool before catching the plane to Paris. Went for a midnight street walk and drinks.
Day 4: RIO speedwagon to Versailles

Getting the van - REO 2 - out of Paris was interesting. Ended up spending first day in Versailles and parking there overnight. We took the train into Paris as we had a booking for the Eiffel TowerBaca lagi
Day 4: An eyefull of the Eiffle.

I cried when I turned the corner and there it was. Amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
Day 5: Versailles market

Seriously. No matter where I am in the world I can find a market!!
Day 5: Versailles to Pontois

From Versailles to Pontois we had a truly wonderful day. Walking the “champs” was wonderful. Parking the van and training it into Paris was the best call.
Day 6: The Louvre.

Well this was an amazing experience. We spent hours there and still didn’t see everything.
Day 6: Continued. Pontoise to Amiens.

Travelling through the countryside. Our first pub.
Day 7: First war cemetery.

Teary.
Day 7: The French understand me.

Important things first. Food second.
Day 7: Amiens to Dunkirk to Calais

Learning so much regarding war history.
Day 8: Calais to Brugges

Next stop Brugges. Our first border crossing into Belgium.
Day 8: Brugges continued.

What a fantastic place. Decided to stay longer. This place has so much soul. Stumbled across an art trail and a huge soccer match.
Day 8: More Brugges

Can’t get enough of this place.
Day 9: Brugges to Ghent

Apart from having my reading glasses stolen in 2be Brewery we loved Brugges.
Day 10: Ghent

Wonderful little town with cool pubs and lovely museums. Yes that’s us sleeping in the IKEA car park.
Day 11: Ghent to Ypres

Decided to spend tomorrow’s ANZAC day at the Menin gates in Ypres. Visited the war cemetaries today. Teared up reading “they are not lost, they are here”.
Day 11: Ypres

Belgium beers. Haven’t met one I don’t like. Very moving ceremony by the Menin gates tonight. Happens EVERY night of the year. 5-6 bugles at a time.
Day 12: ANZAC day in Ypres

Great decision to spend ANZAC day in this wonderful place. Met so many wonderful people. It’s great when people wanna chat and you know in a different universe you’d be mates.
Day 12: Ypres to Hamme

Celebrated an emotional ANZAC day at the Menin Gates. Visited war memorial sites. Met Ed the old Aussie whose son owns Goodiesons brewery in McLaren vale. Gonna meet us there sometime! Graham has aBaca lagi
Day 13: Hamme to Rotterdam

Our longest drive. Not sure what was scarier, the freeways or the tiny country roads. Night walk in Rotterdam was awesome.
Day 14: Kings day Rot. and The Hague

When you stumble across the countries pubic holiday and it goes off.
Day 14: Rotterdam to Utrecht

After a big “Kings” day we moved on to Utrecht. We travelled through some lovely countryside but found it hard to find somewhere to stop. Grah is the king of this though so we ended up at a parkBaca lagi
