    What a first day in Lima

    Having arrived at the hostel early in the morning after more than 20 hours of travelling, not even 15 minutes have passed until I joined the free walking tour from Miraflores to the old centre.     Reunion - de Madrid a Lima

    Who would have thought back then that we are going to meet again in a place I've never thought of being able to visit so soon! During our semester abroad in Madrid 2014 we met, and now we reunited in Lima, Peru!❤

    Sea lions, penguins and lovely ceviche

    Exploring las Islas Ballestas revealed a stunning wildlife. Among thousands of birds, including huge pelicans, we witnessed little Humboldt penguins climbing the rocks and sea lions bathing in the sun. We even spotted a baby sea lion 😍
    After some exhausting kayaking near the hostel (and a hurting sunburnt on my feet!) relaxing at the hostel pool and enjoying some nice Ceviche (the typical Peruvian dish made of raw fish) concluded this sunny day. Through Peru Hop I got to know more people, this time from Ireland and Germany (Germans seem to be everywhere!).    Leia mais

    More fun in Huacachina

    Staying 2 nights in the desert oasis definitely was the right decision, so we could explore the giant dunes a bit more by ourselves, have a great view on the oasis from the top, see a stunning sunset over the desert and last but not least enjoy two great parties in the Wild Rover Hostel😊🥳

    Arequipa, la ciudad blanca

    Because of the numerous white buildings, Arequipa is also called the 'white city' / 'la ciudad blanca'.
    Estábamos descubriendo la ciudad con el free walking tour, dando plantas a llamas y alpacas y finalmente fuimos al mercado central para probar comida típica (rocoto y luego un sándwich de chicharrón). También tenía que probar el coca té que esta recomiendo contra efectos del altitud

    Hiking Colca Canyon Day 1

    The Colca Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world and double as deep as the Gran Canyon.
    The 2-day hike through the canyon was very demanding, yet rewarding with unique views and a nice oasis hostel in the middle of the canyon.

    Hiking Colca Canyon Day 2

    This was probably the most demanding and exhausting hike I've ever done!
    At 4.45am we started our hike - without breakfast 😯 This time, we had to hike up the canyon and the path was very steep up until the end to the top. After 3 hours of sweating and pushing my limits, the top was finally reached and breakfast was waiting.

    Day 2: 5km, 1100(!) hm

    After the hike we relaxed our muscles in natural hot springs (heated from a volcano) and on the drive back we even drove through snow.

    We were a pretty mixed group with people from the US, England, Iceland, New Zealand, Ireland and Germany. I also met probably the craziest hippie ever - this American girl hiked the whole 2 days up and down the canyon on very sharp stones barefoot!    Leia mais

    La ciudad de Cusco

    Primer día en Cusco!
    Descubrí la ciudad caminando, fui al mirador Blanco Cristo, en la Plaza de Armas, al mercado de San Pedro para un ceviche típico y barato con las holandesas, pertenecí en un free walking tour con Karen y Liz y después encontré mi grupo de GAdventures.
    Cusco is the nicest city so far, there are a lot of things to do and especially it's a shopping paradise 😍 already bought a very cheap alpaca pullover 😁 however, the altitude of 3400m really slows everyone down, the smallest steps feel exhausting!    Leia mais

    Urubamba Valley Hike

    After having a few drinks with the G Adventures group the night before, we left in the early morning for our 16km hike through the Santa Teresa Valley along the river Urubamba. The hike led through jungle in the beginning (gladly didn't see any snakes!) and led us up the hills on the official Inka Trail. We had a lunch stop and relaxed in some hammocks, I fell asleep and almost missed departure😅 we continued our hike until we arrived at the hot springs, our final stop. Afterwards we took the bus to Santa Teresa where we all had a fun night out at an outdoor club which played a lot of reggaeton 😍 it was also a great opportunity to get to know our group better - people from USA, Australia, Canada, Scotland and Germany took part in the trip. One of the Scots told me he knew our Mallorca song Johhny Däpp, the DJ even played it after I asked him 😅Leia mais

    Ziplining - Flying above the trees

    This Wesnesday morning we were able to turn into spiderman and superman😜 If flipped around hanging like a spider upside down or or facing forward like superman, we speeded along the ziplines through Santa Teresa's green valley.
    Pura adrenalina!😍
    We also climbed a rock wall and crossed a large hanging bridge. Good fun for everyone!😊🤙    Leia mais

    Tren de Hidroeléctrica a Aguas Calientes

    Después del ziplining, el autobús nos dejó en Hidroeléctrica donde comemos y luego tomamos un tren para acercarnos a Machu Picchu.
    After a 2 hour train ride for estimatedly less than 20km,m, we arrived in Aguas Calientes which is also known as Machu Picchu Town.
    Después de llegar, compremos algunos souvenirs y fuimos a cenar pizza porque ya no podemos ver más platós con arroz! (Aunque la comida peruana es la mejor de los países latinoamericanos que visité)    Leia mais
