We climbed the Eiffel tower, wandered along the canals and had a nice boat cruise as the sun set over beautiful Paris. Bruce and I have loved our five and a half weeks with Matt, Kath, Olivia and Sam. Its been an awesome family holiday.Read more

Checked out the National Museum of Natural History. The kids got an anatomy lesson with lots of skeletons and preserved organs on display. The prehistoric animals were a hit! We then walked to Arc de Triomphe via Champ-Elysees then back to see the Eiffel tower lit up at night.Read more

Stonehenge has been on my bucketlist for more than 50 years when I learnt about it in Primary School. It dates back 2000 to 5000 years ago when it was a cremation and buriel site and possibly a site of animal sacrifice and rituals
It has been sugested Stonehenge may have been constructed with the sun in mind. One avenue conects the monument with the nearby River Aven and aligns with the sun on the winter solstice.
What motivated the people to move stones weighing up to 25 ton for many miles?
Some of the smaller bluestone rocks were from 200 miles away. This is only a small part of an extensive area of circular rocks, mounds and ditches in the area.
Nobody really knows why it was built but its pretty impressive that they are still standing today.
We also visited the Avebury stones and enjoyed a walk around the gardens at the Manor.Read more

A wet morning of driving through narrow flooded roads meant we didn't make it to Torquay! We found this amazing motorhome site (or pitch as they are called here) and are having a relaxing time.

It's easy to see why Bath is World heritage listed. Beautiful well maintained building lined the cobblestone streets. Lots of tree's and flowers make this city very pretty. The roman baths were constructed over 300 year from AD60 following the Roman invasion. The thermal springs run under the building into spa's and baths of varying temperatures. Initially it was a place of worship and gradually became a place of daily bathing and socializing by all citizens.Read more

We spent the night by the sea wall in the port awaiting our early morning ferry.
It was farewell Ireland after a week of touring North to South with an East to west across the centre as well!
A smooth crossing continued into smooth straight roads into Wales.Read more
