• Our Abode in Caen

    4 september 2017, Frankrike ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Our room is on the second floor of This Old House. The stairway seems about two hundred years old. We meet the hostess and her dog, a golden retriever. Breakfast both days is dark coffee/fruit/several wonderful choices of bread or croissants from the boulangerie in the neighborhood. This is a small town of only 100,000 residents which was bombed by the allies in the assault after D-Day as the US, British and Canadian soldiers pushed the Germans to the East. The town has been restored but evidence of the bombs and the occupation haunt this place still.Läs mer
