Pattaya, and the Sanctuary of Truth

We visited the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, Thailand today. This massive structure is made completely of wood. It does not have one nail or screw in it . Construction began in 1981 and will not be completed until 2050. Every inch of the building will be carved and decorated with Buddhist and Hindu motifs. It is part of the legacy of a man from Thailand who introduced the first Mercedes-Benz dealership here. Afterwards he invested in tires and petroleum. Amassing a fabulous fortune, he wished to leave behind this interfaith temple as a monument to the fundamental truths that are common to all religions.
