• Favaios Bakery and Quinta Avessada

    We got way off the beaten path to visit the little town of Favaios. The town’s only two products are a traditional “four cornered” bread and a special kind of Moscato made nowhere else in the world. Nearing extinction in 1952, the wine growers entered into a cooperative that is now quite successful, though the labor intensive process of wine growing has driven many young people to the cities for less physically demanding work.
