Mosteiro dos Jerõnimos which was commissioned to trumpet Vasco da Gama’s discovery of a sea route to India in 1498. The monastery was used as a school and orphanage until 1940.

Hire car and head to Óbidos via Sintra. Drizzling all day however toured Peña Palace and ramparts of The Moorish Castle, both on hilltop.

Praia d'el Rey Country Club where James plays golf while we explore Nazaré and head to Tasquinha for lunch.

Walk around crenellated wall of ‘lost in time’ in Óbidos. King Dom Dini’s gifted the town to his wife Dona Isabel in 1228. The Moors had laid out the streets and recently fled.

Giant monoliths which were initially installed in 4th - 6th Century BC and considered to form a sacred placed. Many were adorned with small carvings.
