    July 28 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Last night promised to be windy-woo with some strong gusts and we weren’t sure it would be ideal for the twins to sleep on the top floor so our plan was to put up a tent and Jess and I would sleep in that and they could have our bed. But the twins obviously feel like we are too old for that sort of caper and were very insistent that they would sleep out there. Little do they realise that they fell for our cunning plan. It turns out it was very windy but they were nice and cosy in the tent and slept well so it all worked out fine in the end.
One thing with driving for 4 days is that you don’t have time to get any work done so that was what was on the cards for today and Jess and I were up early and cracking on. We were very surprised when not long after 9 Allegra emerged from the tent, and even more surprised when very shortly afterwards Tate did too. This is most unlike her, she would normally sleep through anything. We told them that since we were working they could lie down and chill out in our bed, Tate informed us that she didn’t think she would go back to sleep now as she was properly awake. They lay around with Allegra reading and Tate dropping off to sleep in about 5 minutes. We enjoyed a very nice cinnamon bun for some morning tea, these Swedes are onto something there, very tasty. At about 12.30 Allegra had finished her book and asked if it would be ok to wake up Tate as she was a bit bored. Once she was awake they both went off for a bit of a wander as we carried on working and then when they got back it was time for lunch.
The afternoon started off in much the same way, Jess and I carried on and the twins went off to lie on the beach for a while. It was still quite windy and even though the sun was out it was not particularly warm. But apparently the beach was pretty busy and even quite a few people were in the water. They are so lucky they have each other on days like this, it must be pretty cool to have your best friend around all the time, even if occasionally they wind each other up. When they got back we had basically had enough of work for the day and so all headed off to the campsite shop, all campers get a deal where if you buy three ice creams they are only about €1.20 each, they obviously knew their market with us. Very nice it was too, even if it’s not quite the weather for it. But then it was time for the main event, the family challenge on the mini golf they have here. We all started off a little slowly and after a few holes I did have to let them all know that the three of them would be sleeping in the tent tonight if one of them beat me. I am lying here now with Jess next to me in bed so I probably don’t need to be any clearer on who lifted the old Claret Jug that was on offer to the victor.
What better way to relax after a sporting exertion than to laze around back at our van with a bit of beer and biscuits Swedish style. The concept is fairly similar to the Greek version, although neither the beer nor the biscuits are of the same quality. Although, it has to be said that beer and biscuits on a bad day are still beer and biscuits so I can hardly complain.
Not much else to report, a very tasty pasta surprise was whipped up while having a little chat with Lily and Ruby and now the poor twins are off washing the dishes. It’s a bit unfair on them, when there were 4 girls the washing up was split but now there are only two they are doing it twice a day. And there we have it, one whole blog with not a pun to be seen. We will talk about it always.
