• What’s not to lake

A little bit of work started our day before we were getting on the road. We couldn’t be bothered to do much though so eventually just woke up the twins so we could get going. We had to tear ourselves away from Stockholm, as much as we didn’t really want to and the blue skies and morning warmth made it all the harder. We set off at about 9.30 and at the first opportunity I managed to direct us the wrong way. As a man I find it very difficult to take directions from a digital voice and so rather than play the instructions on Google maps i prefer to just follow the blue line. This is fine up until the point of uncertainty, when I always seem to select the wrong option. So we had to take a small detour but were soon enough back on the blue line. Fair play to Jess, she barely reacted to my directing her the wrong way and just carried on calmly driving.
We were heading further north today, I think our overall plan is to see how far we can get in the time that we have with no particular destination in mind so we fairly randomly picked a campsite to head towards. Because we have a reasonably short time and we are such a long way from home we do need to keep that in mind so as Jess was driving I was trying to do a little planning for when we will need to leave. It’s not much fun thinking about going home when you are trying to enjoy a holiday so I gave that up fairly quickly. We did need to stop at a supermarket to stock up on some essentials so we found one of our new favourite Coops and wandered around making impulsive selections.
Once we were all stocked up and refuelled Nena we were back on our way and thinking about stopping for some lunch. Jess suggested a couple of spots but it was a case of not realising how amazingly scenic the spots were until we were going past them on the motorway having passed the exits. So we sort of decided by default to eat on arrival. Following the blue line again took us in the direction we wanted to go but we eventually got to a point where it was taking us on gravel roads and by that stage it was the only choice we had so there was nothing else for it. Unfortunately this really added time to the trip and as I had not had lunch yet there was a definite feeling of mungriness building up.
Eventually we got to our campsite and it is fair to say it is pretty basic but it is on a lake and there is a beach on one side and pine trees on the other so not too shabby. Plus I got to have my lunch. Not too much else going on, we had just about run out of clothes so needed to do some washing although getting it dry is going to be difficult. The twins announced they were going to have a nap, so that’s what they did, and I got a little extra work done. Jess whipped up a very tasty dinner with some gourmet choices impulsively picked up at the Coop, always nice for me to have a break as the twins are getting a little tired of hearing about how I have run through my repertoire of meals. Luckily the never get tired of me having run through my repertoire of humour, at least that is my understanding. The weariness has nie set in and we are now relaxing with hot chocolates.
