Hubbard Glacier

We awoke with an early view of the Hubbard Glacier … on deck we were well wrapped up to try and avoid the cold … it was freezing especially on approach to the glacier. Approaching the glacier was surreal, the boat silently moving through the very cold waters filled with lots of ice. The views of the glacier were unbelievable, magically, surreal, majestic. Up close the colours were brilliant blues and whites … the sound of the ice caving was unreal … we saw it happen before we heard it. The size of the glacier is enormous and the ship appears so small when up close.
The rest of the day was spent on board … relaxing as we left the glacier behind … we chilled and enjoyed the amazing scenery.Read more

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

We caught the free shuttle bus to visit Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and what a great day we had …. Seeing the Totem Poles and hearing from a Native Indian lady all about the history and cultural significance of the Totem Poles. We held our breath as we braved the walk across the suspension bridge ..137 metres long and 70 metres above the river below. Across the bridge the forest was beautiful so many very large trees, ferns and plants …. We experienced the Treetops Adventure which was very high in the tree canopy. Braving the walk back across the bridge we then ventured into the Cliffwalk …. Walking along the edge of the cliff face high above the Capilano Canyon.Read more

After a long flight via Auckland we finally arrived in Vancouver, very tired and we slept for 14 hours. It’s beautifully sunny and we have enjoyed making our way around Vancouver. Visited the old town of Gas Town and saw the old Steam Clock. Caught the little ferry across to Granville Island and spent time wandering through the markets and all the arty craft shops. We hired e-bikes and explored along the Seawall and into Stanley Park, great cycle ways made the ride so much easier and nice to enjoy the different views of Vancouver harbour.Read more
