  • The Jeep

    31. oktober 2019, Canada ⋅ 🌧 10 °C

It's orange, it's big(-ish) and if it where summer we would totally take the top off! But most importantly, it was a free upgrade from a Kia Rio!
Oh and it only has a 2L 4 cylinder... No magnificent 4.7L V8 here! Best of all, it still has that new car smell...Les mer

  • Scarborough Bluffs

    1. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

No we did not play poker in Scarborough and lost all our money. These bluffs are a natural cliff face composed of clay, rocks and sand. There are some awesome beaches and parks here and many, many geese that hiss at you. Bring Seeds.
Even though the bluff and parks are amazing, Thilo wanted to look more at the flood water treatment area, where the stormwater from Toronto is filtered before it enters lake Ontario.

  • Toronto Waterfront

    1. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

We only walked about a third of the waterfront, but it's awesome. Watch planes land, sit on a beach, admire ships (boats mostly) or stroll along the water (slippery when wet signs everywhere!)
We saw the biggest sailing ship of Canada (it's small) and in the hour we walked here, about 10 planes landed and took off from centre island.Les mer

  • Steam Whistle Biergarten

    1. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

Inside Roundhouse park you can find many things, but the best is probably the very tasty beer that is brewed here. They even offer german style beer. Which we tried, and it was pretty close!
And should one miss the 1Litre Maß jugs from Bavaria, you can get them here.Les mer

  • Roundhousepark

    1. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

Trains! Tracks! Coal Tower! Sound boring? We promise, it isn't. Having some really cool old steam locomotives and authentic train garage(?)/roundhouse pretty much dead centre of downtown Toronto is awesome.the CN tower looms in the background and you are surrounded by skyscrapers, but are in a wide open place. Very different to Vancouver...Les mer

  • Downtown Toronto

    1. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

We enjoyed the city, even though we loved the forests of Canada. I think it has a lot to do with the openness and cleanliness of Toronto. Everything is easily reached on foot (although pedestrian crossings have hideously long wait times).
But be prepared to shell out some cash, if you want to go to the top of CN Tower or see the Aquarium of Canada, 40$ per person is the average. And parking is expensive to.

  • Skylon Tower

    3. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

You want a place with an amazing view? Skyline it is. And probably the only tower that is reasonably priced!
From up top you have a grand 360° view, and at every window there is a description of what you can see out of that window. Heaven for Thilo!
Now we went there in autumn, this does mean that there are only five other people there, but man it was cold! Bring a jacket.

  • Niagara Falls

    3. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

The world famous falls... one of the natural wonders. Impressive on its own, one has to remember that only about 30% of the water flows over the falls, the rest is used for power generation by the US and Canada.
Goat island is between the horseshoe falls and the American falls. It was named after, you guessed it a goat. Farmers used to graze their animals on the island since there was no need for fences.

  • A walk through Old Toronto

    4. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

There is something special about walking between old brick buildings and skyscrapers. Luckily for us, the streets are a grid, so we didn't get lost. Unlike Germany where we get lost on our own hometown...
Impressive where the murals scattered around the city, some of them the size of a whole 15 story building!

  • Nathan Phillips Square

    4. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Right in front of the town hall is the Nathan Phillips Square. On it you can find Archways that where constructed to remind us of the horrors of world war 2. Underneath is a running track. The tourist seam to be more interested in the flashy, colour changing "Toronto" sign...Les mer

  • You can't stop the plane from taking off

    5. november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

When we started our journey, the thought of going to somewhere I never was before frightened the heck out of me. But now that it's over I'm scared to go back to my normal life. Germany feels so small already.
The beautiful wildlife, endless roads, the open Sea, massive Mountains, gourgeous nature that made us feel tiny in the beginning became a part of us and let us grow. I'll miss every single second of it.
I will even miss the hard times we have gone through.
After 9 months creating remarkable memories, making new friends and exploring big C the end came way to fast. Even though it was planned in advance, the day of leaving came unexpected and broke my heart a little bit.

Thanks Canada for incredible 9 months. How fortunate we are having so many things that make saying goodby that hard!
