    Day 3 Getaria

    July 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Day 3: It was hot this morning, the walk from the hostel into San Sebastián felt like hard work… when will I get some easy days? The town is much like any seaside Spanish town: pretty, open plazas, gothic churches and the sea, always the sea. The relentless crashing of waves upon the land is a constant, yet here there is something different… the heavy sky. Bilious clouds slowly drift in, coating the tops of the hills in a blue grey haze, they blanket the land making it humid and sticky.

    July 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

I am so grateful for everyone who has messaged me.. everyone is so kind, to know that you’re loved is the true meaning of life. Connor knew I loved him… I am so sad, and I miss him

  • Day 1: Irun

    July 17, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Day 1: walked across the border into Spain, so easy… the hard part is why I’m here…
I watched a film called The Way a long time ago. It’s a great film, it’s sad and beautiful.. I never imagined for one moment I would be in the same position as the main character, walking a Camino for my son. He watched it with me… I made all my children watch it.

‘That looks amazing Mum, I’d love to do that with you’

There’s lots of young people walking… life in plentiful supply, I turn from it and look out of the window. How can I bear it? How am I here? I turn to the sea to blame it for the salt running down my cheeks
