The drive to Ballarat delivered a real mixed bag of weather, with everything from rain and gloomy skies to bursts of sunshine along the highway. Thankfully we arrived to a beautiful afternoon and quickly got ourselves set up at the BIG4 Ballarat Goldfields Holiday Park.

The park has fantastic amenities, including heated bathrooms and complimentary bath mats, which definitely earned plenty of appreciation in the chilly Ballarat weather!

The boys wasted no time making the most of the pedal cars before taking the scooters for a lap around the lake, while we settled into an easy caravan park evening, with dinner in the van and an early night to escape the cold.Leggi altro

Glenrowan VIC

On our way to Ballarat we stopped in Glenrowan to explore the site of Ned Kelly’s final stand.

We wandered around the historic precinct, visiting the various buildings and locations associated with the Kelly Gang and the famous siege. Hard to believe such a pivotal piece of Australian history unfolded in this otherwise quiet little town.

We’re off and cruising. Heading south on the Hume Highway, destination Albury for the night.

We stopped on route to check out the Dog on the Tucker-box at Gundagai, before pulling into a convenient drive-through site at the All Seasons Tourist Park, Lavington.

After exploring the main streets of Albury and the view from Monument Hill, we introduced the boys to the concept of an 'all-you-can-eat' buffet at the Commercial Club, where they embraced the joy of endless eating. I fear the teenage years ahead!Leggi altro
