    Tyson and I parted ways for the first time in 10 months. He stayed in Marlette with the camper and animals and I came back to Kalamazoo for doctor appointments. FYI: Been having neurological issues. Most likely early stage Lyme. On antibiotics for Lyme now and symptoms are starting to go away. 🙌🏼 I decided to splurge and get a hotel room at Delta Marriott for the night. Because of continual heavy rain (welcome back to Michigan) Tyson decided to stay out one extra night which meant another hotel stay. It did not suck. That bed was like sleeping on heavenly clouds! My old friend Anne came over for a visit and soak in the indoor pool/hot tub. Been playing tennis almost everyday when in Kzoo. Love it! Also, Michigan roads are the worst. THE WORST.Read more

    Doug visited our campsite and I forgot to take a pic. 😩 It’s the first time he’s been out of the house besides for doctor appts so that was a big moment. He’s getting stronger physically and mentally. ❤️ Kzoo was for Tyson’s eye appt and to see Nikki. She was in town from Chicago. We attended the women’s march rally and then watched my old tennis team compete at the Y. Sooo good to see her.Read more

    On the road again!

    Indiana! Tyson got caught in a wicked thunderstorm mtn biking. I had to rescue him which meant putting on big girl panties and driving the truck in a downpour in a city I don’t know to pick him up. The city campground is quite nice for $24/n with electric. Although we were surrounded water after the downpour. Wish I would have taken a pic of our electrical box and the cord to the camper. There was some concern. 😳 Brown County SP, Mammoth Cave NP, and Asheville, NC are next if all goes as planned. 🤞🏼🤞🏼Read more

    Did you know that Indiana scored a big win in July with a bill getting passed that makes Indiana Rye Whiskey an official thing? We learned that visiting a sweet nearby distillery. Brown County SP is huuuge. Nashville, IN is full of numerous Cracker Barrel type shops and decent eateries.Read more

    Strangely, Tyson did not want to go to any of the distilleries. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So we hung out at a KOA and got a little bored. BUT we did finally get to put the KY sticker on our map. Under our outdoor mat is a mud pit. We did some slipping and sliding before getting that thing down. On our way to our next campground, we stopped at Mammoth Cave and took a hike with Kaline. Nice that this NP allowed dogs on their hiking trails. No cave tour though.Read more

    So many campsites with beautiful water views here!! B, C and D loop. C & D have trees for more shade. We loved b48 (no h/u) and C3 (h/u) but many others with h/u to choose from that are just as spectacular if not better. Tyson visited the Corvette Museum and I took Kaline on many long walks along the beautiful Barren River Lake.Read more

    Smoky Mtn NP

    We both thought The Great Smoky MTN NP (or the Smoky Mtns) was spelled Smokey. You know, with an E like Smokey the Bear. Who knew? We stayed at Smokemont NP CG near Cherokee, NC. Our site was awesome on the river. This side of the NP was low key compared to the Walmart of tourist towns on the other side, Gaitlinburg. It was still fun to see it and walk around for a bit. An accident on the main NP road caused quite a delay in traffic. And it was overcast and rainy the one full day we had but still glad we made this a quick pit stop.Read more

    Brevard, NC

    Beautiful weather the entire time in Brevard! Davidson River CG was a delight with well maintained trails, fly fishing river, and spacious campsites. Truly a nature lovers paradise. Tyson was in mtn biking mecca with The Hub cycle shop & Pisgah tavern only a mile away. Brevard reminds me of the smaller ski towns in Montana. Lots of fit outdoorsy folks in a relaxed atmosphere.Read more
