Machu Picchu

One of the wonders of the world and boy did it live up to its name.

We were picked up at 6:20 am to catch the Inca train to Agua Clientas. (don’t rely on my spelling). A town built on the river. No cars or motorcycles allowed.

The train itself was an experience, driving through the mountains, Inca music and a little enactment of an ancient story. Sandra was moved to tears.

Left out overnight bags at Agua Clientas and were put on a bus with our guide. No other transport is allowed to the site and we were given our ‘allocated’ time slot as they control how many people are at the site.

To say we had the best experience is an understatement. Being there is so much better than seeing Machu Picchu on TV or in books. Every step was worth it. Hope you enjoy our pictures. Spread across a few footprints.Read more
