Chartres and beyond

Early morning departure after a cracker of a thunder last night. The noise is much louder when you have nothing much between you and the sky!!

Got to the Cathedral in Chartres of the Virgin Mary.

Had breakfast of pastries at a tiny bakery. Paul’s Apple pie was superb. Never tasted anything like it before.

It’s a must see, I think. A pilgrim destination where people make the trip to ask for Our Lady’s intercession.

It is stunning inside and I enjoyed this more than the Notre Dame in Paris. I hope you like the pictures.

We are now at a winery cellar door with free off grid camping for the night. A whale of a time wine tasting with a little old lady who didn’t speak any English. Introduced her to Google translate!! Purchased two bottles of wine for €14!
