Dream Vacation: Amsterdam Traveler
Im Finally Going!
May 8–10 in England ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C
I can't believe that I'm finally going to a place that I've always wanted to go.
It's also my first solo trip abroad so I'm excited yet a little nervous.
This trip is going to be so special and memorable for me, I even upgraded from a standard Eurostar seat to a Eurostar Plus seat, which means more space, seat by myself and food at my seat!, it's a big trip for me so why not haha.
Of course Taeyong is coming for the adventure too.
I'm also finally going to see the Anne Frank Huis and I will practice my limited Dutch. I have a replica diary that I'll use as a photo album and put some of my Dutch I've learnt/used along the way!

Here I go!

I left the house at 7:40am to get my train from Folkestone Central to St Pancras
Had to buy another ticket because I was early but it was cheap and quick.
Customs was also nice and quick, I made it at about 9:15.
I had bit of a shakey bit but im fine, I can relax for a bit now before I board the Eurostar.
Made it to my Eurostar Plus seat, little bit shakey again but im sure I'll be fine.
We stopped at France, Brussels and Rotterdam before coming into Amsterdam for 4:30
I had a nice little salad and a red wine with a quiet sweet brownie.Read more

Beautiful, sunny and warm but I did get kinda lost but the nice lady in one of the souvenir shops was very helpful.
Sadly my hotel doesn't do breakfast so I got some stuff at the supermarket down the road.
My room is up 4 steep flight of stairs

I got kinda lost but there are plenty of souvenir shops to help, I managed to find the Anne Frank Huis and got a picture of her statue.

Time to Relax

After dinner on my way back to the hotel, I looked in one of the many souvenir shops and got a cute little necklace and bracelet and a small canal house for my travel shelf.
I made it back to my hotel room before the sun set.
I found out that the hotel doesn't do breakfast so I might pop into the supermarket down the road on my way to my canal tour and get a little snack.Read more

I slept OK, I found the Dutch Pancake Masters next to the hotel so I had a nice breakfast.

Canals

The Canal tour was very nice, smooth and interesting.
Got lots of photos and a video.
I had an hour and a half before I'm due for the Anne Frank Huis so I slowly walked and had a look in a few little souvenir shops to kill time.
I have to wait another 50 minutes before I can arrive at the huis, I'm sitting in front of Anne's statue waiting to get a nice polaroid of her.Read more

Oh Wow!

After going through the original bookcase and seeing the hiding place, I walked into the newer bit of the building and then there it was, in all it's glory...the diary!
Everything was amazing and I took everything in.
I couldn't believe I was in a place I've read about for decades.
I went into the book store and got a few books and a couple of postcards to stick in my replica diary.
I had a lavender lemonade in the cafe and then walked to find a place for some food.
I found a cute place called New Dutch, I had a Bloody Mary and some kind of burger but it was alot of salad.Read more

Unexpected Exhibition

It was 3pm when I walked back to Dam Square so I decided to have a look in a strange but interesting exhibition called Body Worlds.
6 floors on how the body works and how different emotions likes happiness and stress can cause your body harm.
I got bored so I went into the tourist guard shops to see if they can recommend anything for me to do so I'm doing a Pizza canal tour at 6.
I came back to the hotel to relax for a bit before heading to my tour.Read more

One Last Adventure

I'm on a 3 hour walking tour, another beautiful, sunny and warm day to finish this memorable, special trip.
We stopped at a nice little cafe for a lemonade and muffin because I haven't had anything to eat yet.

Time to Eat and Recharge.

After the tour, I walked back to the hotel with 2 nice American ladies, we said our goodbyes and I went to get my backpack and made my way slowly to Amsterdam Centraal to waste some time.
I got a couple of books on the Dutch and their culture and went looking for a nice place to eat and rest my back.
I found a place called Exki just outside so I can watch the world go.

Customs was quick and easy again and I didn't have to wait long.
