After my 14 hours Flight, I arrive around 6am in Hong Kong, here I have a 24 hours stopover, so I decided to go out to explore the City a bit… I didn’t had to claim my bag, so I only had my carry on bag with me… I got some cash from the ATM, and bought a return ticket for the Metro from the Airport to the City Center… and let’s go - first stop Kowloon…

… after the Kowloon, I took the Metro for one more stop, to the Victoria Harbour on Hong Kong Island, I was sitting by the Pier and looking to Kowloon on the other side, saw the Wonder wheel here, and as I saw the Tourist Bus, I decided to hop on it… because I don’t know the City and i’m only here for one day… I thought that’s a pretty good idea to see the most here in one day…Read more

Music & Light Show

… As the perfect Ending from my day, there is a Music & Light Show on the Buildings in Hong Kong Island, so from the Kowloon waterside Promenade you have a spectacular view to see the show, daily at 8 pm & 9 pm…

.. I got some take away food & drink from a nearby restaurant and was waiting for the show to start…

Quite a lot of people came together to watch the show…

Airport Hong Kong

… back at the International Airport Hong Kong… the Music & Light Show was a pretty amazing ending of my 24 hours stopover here, as I knew the way from the Waterside Promenade to the MetroTerminal in Kowloon, it was pretty easy to find even in nighttime…

Back at the Airport… went through the Passport control and security check, because I already had my boarding pass, i didn’t had to do check-in…

… as I still had time at the Gate because my flight was leaving at 2 am, I strolled through the Duty Free & enjoyed an overpriced Beer at a Bar at the Terminal.

Time for Boarding, tired but I was lucky, had 3 seats for myself, so I could sleep a bit even the flight was only three hours!!!

Osaka Castle

After a long long travel and not a lot of sleep, i arrived in Osaka, immigration was pretty easy, but trying to get cash from an ATM was quite hard, thanks to Revolut, i finally got some cash, and i could pay my metro ticket from the airport osaka till osaka city… getting out of the train station, it was pouring, but i walked 20 min to the hostel, which i found pretty good because of maps… the good thing i figured quickly because of the rain was that the shopping street which i had to walk to the hostel was covered… so i didn’t get that wet…waiting with a coffee in the nearby coffee till checkin went by fast, the first thing i did was a long, hot shower and a nap…

After a long nap my friend was arriving in the hostel, and we decided to go to visit the Osaka Castle, we had to be a bit fast, because in japan the castles and shrines close at 5 pm… but we made it and had a great view from the top of the castle, had a drink from the vending machine (i tried a fanta grape) and talked a lot…Read more

Dinosaur Restaurant

… after the osaka castle, we walked a bit through the shopping street, found a Pokemon Cafe (which was occupied, as you have to reserve a table days before, we couldn’t go there, sadly) but we found another cool place for dinner - a dinosaur Restaurant which happened to be next to the hostel… it was pretty funny, we were alone in the restaurant, there is everywhere Dinosaurs, which even make sounds, well, the location was pretty nice but the food was not the best one… after the Restaurant we went to the hostel because we needed sleep, than tomorrow is a big day….Read more

07:00 in the Morning, wake up time, we gonna take the Metro and will arrive before 09:00, before the park opens at the Universal Studio… well, that was what we thought, but as we arrived, there was already quite a lot of people and somehow the park opened already at 8:00, if we would have known that. Welcome in the World of Mario… for the Mario world, we had to reserve a slot to enter, so we took a early one, at 9:00 am… we bought a Mario Watch, with these watch you need to play, like get a lot of stars, and you have to play some mini games to collect keys, the watch is connected with the app so, you can always check how many star and keys you have, for the end you need three keys to go inside the last mini game, where you have to rescue the golden mushroom which bowser stole and kept in his castle… it feels like you are in a Super Mario Game… totally worth it…Read more

The Wizard World of Harry Potter

The second Highlight is the Wizard World of Harry Potter, here you can buy a magic wand 🪄, you also got a map of Hogwarts, and here you can find places where you can try different magic spells & something will happen, like a fire got on, the flag is moving or the door opens… pretty cool… of course the Hogwarts castle, Hagrid‘s House, Ron‘s Car, Hogsmead, the Black lake or trying Butterbeer… there is a lot to explore… even some cool rides…Read more

Our last day here in Osaka, the first stop we walked to the Namba Yasaka Shrine, really liked it, definitely recommend this place when in Osaka… as we went quite early, it was not crowded at all…

After the Namba Yasaka Shrine, we were strolling around Dotonbori Area, where we found a cute Cafe right by the River, we tried the famous 10 dollar waffles stuffed with cheese, they were so good, made a Boat Ride on the River and visited some StreetArt… all in all we had a blast in Osaka Downtown… and in the late afternoon we took the Shinkanson Train to Nagoya… what surprised me, was that it was so comfy to travel by Train in Japan, because you have so much space, even with your backpack in front of you… definitely more comfy than in an airplane!Read more

Nagoya Castle

Today is the Day… the Reason we actually came to Japan.. Adele and Me, we were waiting outside of our hotel in Nagoya… nervous, curious, talking about which car he, well, yeah, HE will come in… He is Ryo our Friend we had when the 3 of Us went to study English at Dominican University in San Rafael, San Francisco, 14 Years ago… the place we met, and spend a lot of time with each other… and now 14 years later Adele and me we are standing here on a Parking lot in front of a hotel in Nagoya, Japan and in a few minutes we will meet Ryo again!

And than he drove in the Parking, with a typical Toyota Family car, with the Shirt we met him in San Francisco.. happy tears, big hugs, excitement.. finally we are together again!

And so on we had a lot to talk about, so we went for Lunch first.. typical Japanese Tempura, nice Restaurant and Talk… after that he showed us the Nagoya Castle…Read more

Dinner in Nagoya

As to finish up this unforgettable day, Ryo took us for dinner to a typical Japanese Restaurant, where we had variety of Japanese dishes and Beer of course… it was sooo delicious!

Before sleeping we were sitting in the Rooftop Lounge from the Hotel, had some delicious Japanese Desert, which we bought in 7 Eleven, and were talking a lot…

Daytrip to Magome

Well, we appreciate that Ryo has a car, so we went on a small Roadtrip for a day to Magome, a cute little Mountain Town…

… here we walked around the Town, we had Lunch in a Restaurant & we walked up to a Viewpoint, from where you can see the Mountains…

After we walked back to the Car and drove to a second cute Town Tsumago, well, Magome & Tsumago are around 15 min away by car and it‘s also famous to hike from one to the other Town….Read more

… walking back down to the car, we drove to the other Town Tsumago, here you could see inside of the old traditional Japanese Houses, really interesting, after walking around the Town, we did a little hike up to a View Point, different view than in the other Town, but soo beautiful!

We were really lucky with the weather, because it was only rainy a bit before lunch, and after it stopped. Hiking down from the view point, through the village again we arrived by the car again… and we drove back to nagoya…Read more

Back in Nagoya, we went for Karaoke 🎤, you pay per hour, and got a Room with a Karaoke Machine, a big Screen, a Table and Seat… we could choose from a lot of songs, order Drinks & Food…
