I started my second day full of energy. I walked along the coast to Povoa de Varzim. I was led through the town through small alleys lined with beautiful tiled (azulejos in portuguese) houses.

Azulejos:
The art of tile painting was brought to Portugal by the Moors, where it developed into a unique style. They show various motifs, religious scenes, historical events, mythological stories, everyday life, and ornamental patterns. In addition to their aesthetic function, azulejos also serve as a natural air conditioning system and protection from salty winds.🎨

A wooden path then paved the way along beaches and through a forest to the next settlement. The last stretch to the hostel in Marinhas was beautiful and exhausting. It led me through small villages, over a bridge, and further along the beach. After a total of 37.4 km, I arrived at the hostel.Læs mere
