Santarem to Golega

Had an eventful day today as I stepped on dried mud that turned out to only be dry on top and was in fact 6 inches deep. I bagged up my shoe and stuck it on my backpack and changed into my sandals. I think I’ve walked over 10 miles in sandals today. I’ve walked all day with a guy from Sweden who offered to carry my muddy shoes. We caught up with Olaf and Nada who id met previously and stopped for snacks and drinks. I also found the village tap and cleaned my shoes. They were dry within an hour or so. I’ve arrived at my accommodation to find it’s Kirby heaven it’s an equestrian centre with dressage and racing horses. Outside the gates is a race track and arena.
