• Last day - part 2

    June 12 in Peru ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

And now some fun things from the museum. Please note the description on the photos. You will understand why I liked these and wanted to share them when you see them. So me…

And it’s the last day here. So I treated myself to a 7-course chef tasting at Chicha. Chica is chef Gaston Acurio’s claim to fame, which features Andean Peruvian food elevated to Michelin star level. Each dish has a cultural story, and the flavors warm your spirit. It was a treat.

Finished just in time to catch the bus to the Planetarium to learn about Inca stargazing and the use of celestial patterns for crops and calendars.

After wonderful lectures and videos projected above us, we were wrapped in blankets and allowed to use their giant telescopes. No need for them to see the Southern Cross, but they came in handy to view the “wishing well” and planets Jupiter and Mercury. Wow. I learned a lot tonight.

And then the walk home to the hotel. Along the way, I saw a vendor selling pinchos. Pinchos without bread. I will let you guess the substitute. Would love to try, but I just ate 7 courses. lol

Lastly, something I learned about the mountains around Machu Picchu today. Yes, a few days late; but still a cool fact.

And now to to bed. Early flight tomorrow that involves a ride to the airport at 4 a.m. I’m coming home. Thanks for following along. Come with me next time…
