Lori goes to SE Asia

Well, I’m behind in posting as it’s been a frenzy of fun!
Went out of Jakarta with a gorgeous sunrise to Suka Bumi to do the longest suspension bridge in Asia, the new Sultan chair along a river experience, flying fox zip line and Suka Bumi falls. So fun! Only the second time in my life I have seen a photo of some place in the world and said “I must find out where this is and go!” It was a you tube video and I sent it to my friend, Jean and here we are! On the other side of the world riding it together. Amazing.

Now, for the injury of the adventure. And no, it did not happen on any of the outdoor activities that one signs waivers for. Yes, it was me. It had to be my right ankle, of course. After all the fun, it was time to use the ladies room. Small fee to get in and then I had that “hmmmmm” moment as the toilet was a porcelain squatting hole with a large bucket of water to flush with. When in Rome… This said, once I was in the proper position, I must have been a little too top heavy as my sandals slipped on the water and I was faced with a choice…
Fall forward into the, maybe not so clean bucket of water, or backwards onto the tile. I chose the later. And ended up in a dead cockroach pose (re-enacted outside for all to enjoy). So loud BOOM!, Lori does the cockroach while twisting her ankle to pivot to the back fall. In runs Lina to the laughing rescue. You can’t even imagine how hard we laughed- including the entrance fee collectors in their birkas. It was a side splitting and ankle twisting moment. Perhaps I should have asked for the small fee back as the hole was actually never used. lol

After all the fun outdoor activities, and dangerous bathroom visit, we were hungry. So off to Sumatran Padang food for lunch. Also, amazing. You sit down and they bring every dish they make to your table cover in wrap. Everyone is delicious and very spicy. When you leave, you only pay for what you enjoyed. The best part of the day was seeing our friend Lina’s excitement to have Pandang while visiting from Alaska. Her joy and gusto were infectious. What a glorious day!Lue lisää
