• Revisiting London

    18–20 sept. 2024, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

We made the most of our short visit to London, enjoying beautiful early fall weather as we walked for miles. Allan, who was born in the UK, has been here many times, but it has been quite a few years since his last visit. I was here for the first time in June, and it’s been fun to return much sooner than expected.

Our hotel was a block away from the British Museum, and we very much enjoyed spending a few hours there exploring the collections from Egypt, Africa, Japan, and more. We’d hoped to see items taken from the Parthenon, as our guide in Greece had provided some background on their removal, but that exhibit was closed for maintenance.

We both loved a matinee performance of Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre. A modern take on a Greek tragedy with a terrific cast!

And we love trying local food specialties, so we dined on fish & chips, ate pub fare, and fortified ourselves for travel this morning with a full English breakfast at our hotel. In an hour, we’ll start our trek to Southampton where we’ll board Anthem of the Seas for a 12-day cruise to the Canary Islands, with stops in La Coruña and Lisbon.
