    Scooter Tour through the mountains

    September 12, 2018 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

After the breakfast we've traipse round rental car offers and finally decided on having a scooter for today. With this we initially went along the beach in direction to Heraklion. Because the weather forecast predicted wind, it would have been a good possibility for kite surfing. Unfortunately we were disappointed because the wind intensily dropped.

That's why we thought to visit the city. So we took a walk to the port and through the city centre.

Because we had a lot of time left, we went up country and enjoyed the silence and the views in the mountains there. Surrounded by olive trees, wine slopes, pomegranate- and lemon trees we went through small villages with greek charme.
What's interesting, is that in every place there is at least one church, which is always the most beautiful building from all.
At the first tour we went through Kalithea, Skalani, Episkopi to Anopoli and back to the hotel along the beach. At the second tour we went from Gouves to Kalo Chorio, Avdiu, Mochos, Stalida and afterwards along the sea back to our hotel.
Near Avdou there was something special to see. In a dam we could see an abandoned and sunken village because of the low water level.
