    First day in Lancaster

    June 16, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We arrived about 10 pm last night; met the dogs, Avery and Lucy; spent some time chatting with Wayne; and fell into our respective beds.

Today is Laura day. It is also laundry day. It's a good thing the sisters can multitask!

We spent the morning drinking coffee and eating breakfast. Oh, and we sorted laundry and started the first load.

We got to Laura's apartment around three with a wish list of what we hoped Laura would do for us: Joyce wanted a Judy Dench haircut; Patsy wanted a buzz cut, and a wig cut and styled.

First things first, though. Laura was hungry and so were we. Daphne, Laura's roommate and friend, offered us some of her homemade spaghetti. It smelled really good. She had not cooked it for us, however, so we stayed with our original plan of going out to eat. We thanked Daphne for her kind offer, and we all poured into the car and drove to Wokano, an Asian food restaurant. The food was delicious and some of us took leftovers back to Laura's apartment.

Joyce and Laura set up the beauty salon in Laura's bedroom. Patsy went first and got her buzz cut. She likes her hair very short because it makes wearing a wig easier. Then she put on the wig she wanted Laura to cut. Laura was a little nervous as she had never cut a synthetic hair wig. She did a wonderful job. Patsy's long shag wig was transformed into a modern cut wig.

Now it was Joyce's turn. She has a lot of hair, and it was going to take a while to cut it. So Laura opened her Netflix program and Janet, Patsy and I watched the first episode of season one of Foyle's War.

Laura finished cutting Joyce's hair just as Foyle's War was ending. Of course, cutting hair is thirsty work and after cleaning up we piled into the car to go to Starbucks. The mom and aunts were tired, Laura was not. When we took her home she wasn't ready for us to leave and said goodbye to us reluctantly. Joyce's home is 45 minutes away from Laura's apartment. The sisters were really tired by then. But not too tired to watch a second episode of Foyle's War before we hit the sack.
