    Well, we made it to Vancouver. But they won't let us through customs without our checked baggage having been scanned, so if our bag didn't make it with us, we'll be having an extended stay in Vancouver.

    We're pretty sure we're about to miss our flight to Phoenix as it finishes boarding in 10 minutes. Soooo... We'll see what happens.

    Arizona Renaissance Festival

    I love the Renaissance Festival. Like, a lot. I spent most of the cash I took out on food, drinks and elven jewellery. (Ears and a circlet!) We watched the joust and a Cat and Rat circus. I wish we could go back and take in all of it, but it's only open in weekends, and it's supposed to rain on Sunday. One time Wallace and I will come down on the Friday so we can spend days there.

    Oh, and I got a tarot reading, and she says I should let go of some of my jobs (duh), and that she see's a baby girl in my future in the next few years. So that's neat.

    Our knight also won the joust and I bought a jousting shield and got it signed. 😎

    While that was the highlight of my day, we stopped by Costco after and I got a yearly supply of my allergy meds for a little over what I pay per month in Canada, so that's cool! Also some other goodies.

    Desert Botanical Garden

    Today was well spent walking the garden at the Desert Botanical Garden. We saw and learned a lot about Desert Botany, and got to take in a neat art exhibit displayed around the garden. They also have a lovely (but expensive) gift shop. We looked around in there while waiting for a table where we had a fabulous lunch. Overall, super pleasant dayLeggi altro

    Wallace has a birthday!

    Today was Wallace's 29th birthday. We started slow, but we went to the mall and shopped a bit. (I got some killer deals on bathing suits!) And then went for lunch. The intention was to go to Famous Dave's, but the location we tried to go to as closed, so we went to Joe's Real BBQ. Holy. Crap. BBQ food will never be the same after that. We then walked around this street in Gilbert and got dessert at a place called Creamistry. They make liquid nitrogen ice cream to order. I wish I had gotten a picture of that because it was super neat. They also had a killer coconut ice cream base that was creamy and perfect.

    After stuffing ourselves silly, we went to find Golfland Sunsplash. The Sunsplash part is a water park that is closed for the season, but we played a round of mini golf here, and then Wallace and I indulged our inner child in the arcade, go kart track and laser tag. There was virtually no one here on a Wednesday afternoon, so we had the whole place to ourselves.

    After playing our hearts out, we headed to the airport to pick up Wallace's dad, picked up some birthday Krispy Kreme donuts, ate more than re food, and passed the heck out.

    Kayla rides a train!

    Today was all about relaxing. We mostly just hung around, swam in the pool, did our laundry and then puttered around some more.

    I saw a few days ago that the Arizona Science Centre hosts an event about once a month called Lasers and Liquor. We took the LRT from Mesa to downtown Phoenix and went to the show. We saw both sets. Beyoncé first, and then the Rolling Stones. It was super fun! But could have been even more fun in Canada. 😉🍁Leggi altro

    The Great Fair!

    Today we spent a good chunk of the day in Fountain Hills exploring a huge craft show. Like, mega huge. I bought a bird whistle thing (that I have yet to master), and ate some loaded fry bread and funnel cake. There was so much talent, and cool things that I would have loved to buy if I had unlimited funds. We also saw this huge fountain that the town is named for, and we saw these cute ducks.

    Shopping!

    Today we took it easy in the am, and did some shopping in the pm. No pictures today, but I got a cute dress, and found a new favourite store in the states. (It's called Attic Salt.)

    Then we had dinner at Joe's Farm Grill (related to Joe's Real BBQ, but I don't know if I think it was quite as good. That baked potato I had at the BBQ place was to die for). Apparently this place has been featured a few times in Triple D, and is known for being super farm to table with their veggies, as they have an urban farm on their property. A really cool spot though, I'd recommend either restaurant to anyone. (Apparently there's a third called Liberty Market. A must try next time.)

    We're getting all packed up and ready to go, and while I am looking forward to being at home, I think I could use a few more days in the sunshine. 🌞
