Hamburger Hafen

Today, Jens and Kaja took us to the harbor. We rode the HOHF bus and toured the city... wandered around the harbor front, and had lunch at the beach club.
Miniatur Wunderland

Fascinating miniature replicas of different parts of the world. Too bad I was so jet lagged to fully appreciate it all.
Kaja's house

After a full day of touring the city, we drove to Kaja's house for German dinner. Neil and Jens took the canoe out to grab a geocache while Kaja, Jannick and the boys had a crazy and loud game ofLue lisää
St. Pauli Quarter

After waking up at the crack of noon, we wandered around our hotel neighborhood. There were lots of quaint cobblestone streets, quiet parks, stores and restaurants.
St. Michaelis Kirche / Der Michel

We visited the Cathedral of St. Michaels, the crypt and the bell tower. The highlight was the organ performance; except somehow every piece ended very loud and angry. Was it the spirit of Mahler?
Harbor front walk

After the Cathedral tour, we went back to Haffen city to catch the ferry along the Elba River. We then took a leisurely stroll back to the city while stopping at a beach house for drinks.
Heimat-hafen

We met Pia and Jannick and the rest of the Zapps at a restaurant in the Portuguese quarters for our final dinner together. We had hamburgers in Hamburg!! 🍔
Reeperbahn

After dinner, Jens toured us through the red light district of Hamburg. Good thing the boys were busy catching Pokémons on Pia's phone to notice the other sights...

Homberg

We stumbled upon this little town on the way to Heidelberg. It was a quaint lil old town with a beautiful cathedral and an old castle at the top of the hill.
Clara's house

We arrived at Clara's house and Anne welcomed us warmly. Her lasagne was Da best!
Philosophenweg

Anne and Clara took us on a walking tour along the Philosopher's Way. We had excellent views of the river Neckar, the castle and the old bridge.
Alte Brücke

This is a 200 year old bridge, first bridge to cross the Neckar.
Altstadt

There were many wedding parties today in the Altstadt.
Schloss Heidelburg

Very big and impressive. The giant wine barrel held 219000 L of wine.

We took the cable car up to this little restaurant to see Clara's friend Anna.

Dinner out with the Wituscheks this evening in Mannheim at the Skyline revolving restaurant. Beautiful views all around...
