• Ride in Great Basin

    May 15 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Today we went for a ride in great basin national Park. There is only one scenic road that rides up the mountain to the top of Wheeler peak in the park. We started the trip at 5300 feet. Because the top of the mountain still has quite a bit of snow we could only ride to a point at 10,000 feet on the mountain. Before the road was closed.

Wheeler Peak is the second highest point in Nevada. As we rode up the mountain, you could see forever across the basin. Similar to how it was on our drive, but with a higher elevation view, you could see even more. It was also neat seeing all the snow on the mountain. Since there is only one scenic drive, that’s paved. It was a short ride for us today.

After the ride, we stopped in the visitor centers to check it out and have a game plan for our visit the next day.
