Idaho potato Museum

Today we visited the Idaho potato museum. This is in Blackfoot, Idaho. It’s a pretty small museum, but it was a unique place to visit. Plus who doesn’t love potatoes.

All of the potatoes that come from Idaho are all russet potatoes and they all are grown in the southern half of the state. 62% of the potatoes that are harvested are used in processed foods such as potato chips. That leaves only 29% as fresh potatoes that are eaten. The remaining 9% are used for seed.

The museum had lots of display cases, including a whole case of all kinds of different potato peelers. and four cases of potato mashers. Who knew there were so many different types of potato mashers. But my favorite display case was all the Mr. potato heads, two huge cases full of all different kinds. They were so funny to look at.

After the museum, we went into the potato café and of course we had to have a potato. They had to build your own potato bar where you can select the type of potato you want to eat and then what kind of toppings you want on it. We got fries. They were fresh cut french fries.
