    Fulton, MS to Columbus, MS

    October 18, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 45 °F

We’re not messing around; left this morning at 6:50 with our group of seven boats. Many miles ahead of us. The cold front came through last night from Canada; mid 30’s this morning. Entered Fulton Lock (25 feet) at 7:20. Tow approaching lock allowed our pleasure boat convoy to lock thru first – very kind – we could have been delayed quite a bit otherwise. Underway again at 7:40, we have the system down! Next the Glover Wilkins Lock (30 feet) 12 miles down river entered 9:32 left 9:55. Another 5 miles to Thad Cochran Lock (30 feet) entered 10:35 left about 11:10 – slightly slower this time. Traveled 14 miles to Aberdeen Lock (30 feet) entered at 12:30. This lock impounds Aberdeen Lake; a long, narrow lake. We finished our locks for today. 20 miles to our final destination – Columbus Marina. We are just above the next lock for tomorrow. We needed to wait for a tow with barges to pass before entering the marina. Traveled 52.7 miles – making progress.Read more
