Cherbourg arrival

Arrived in Cherbourg early in the afternoon, after a nice smooth crossing. Windy up top though! Now for a few hours driving to our first overnight stop in Honfleur.

Arrived Honfleur about 5pm. A couple of thunderstorms but had a nice walk round the old streets and wooden church with mum and dad. Mum and Nicola started the tradition of buying a bag every day.En savoir plus
First proper day driving south. We had lunch on the square in a village called Mortagne-au-Perche. The heavens opened and we had to go inside for dessert and coffee.

Breakfast in the van in a lay-by and then a lovely morning exploring the historic royal city of Loches and its fabulous Saturday market. Coffee and a panaché in the market square amongst all theEn savoir plus
Overnight in hilltop town of Bellac. Mum and dad in an old hotel on the main square owned by a couple from Hereford. Dad almost killed when the wardrobe attacked him.

Breakfast in the motorway services…at a picnic table.
Lunch stop in the Dordogne valley. Nice cafe in the square on the main street. Classic car rally setting off from the abbey car park. Mum hadEn savoir plus
Our final overnight stop in Cahors before we meet Bev tomorrow. Another hot and tiring day, so we rested after we arrived. Nice walk along the river and then dinner in Mum and Dad’s hotel by theEn savoir plus
Afternoon visit to Carcassone old city to meet Bev and have lunch.
Finally, dad got his French onion soup! Hurrah!

Short pull off the road in the hills for bread and cheese and to admire the view. Interesting ant motorway with nasty looking soldier ants.
