    The great walkabout

    June 20, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Visiting a city by foot or by car are two totally different things. The sights, the sounds, and the smells that you experience by foot are well worth the tired legs and aching feet. One of the most interesting sites in Chicago is the Tribune Tower. It's a building of buildings so to speak. Embedded all around the lower sections of the building are stones from various structures around the world. The great wall of China, The Taj Mahal, and the Parthenon just to name a few. We walked a little over 16 miles in total before settling in to our hotel room with a wonderful view of the Willis Tower (aka Sears Tower) out of our window.Read more

    Did someone say pizza?

    June 19, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

We took the train into the city. This was the first time I've been on the famous EL. Strange how close it runs by the buildings. So close in some cases I bet it rattles and shakes the walk-ups as it wizzes by. We got off the train about half a mile from our hotel. We wanted to get a better view of the amazing architecture found on many historic buildings. After dropping off our bags at the holel our next pizza!Read more
