• The long and winding road...

    26 aprile 2024, Scozia ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

Woke up at Tarbet on the bonne bonnie brae of Loch Lomond as the song goes.
We headed across to Connell and Oban, which are pretty by anyones standards, as is the Fort William.
But as you get more remote, the real scenery starts happening
Up to Invergarry, where we had a lovely lunch of lemon crepes from a roadside cart.
From there to Kyle of Lochalsh, it is jaw-dropping. The road gradients are insane the quality of the roads are between potholed and badly patched to single lane nightmares but the landscape is insane . The colours are really moody every shade of grey and blue.
As for the road into Applecross . it is 20 odd miles in 2nd gear doing between 20 and 25 mph.
Google road to Applecross pics to get the idea
Anyway, Applecross is so remote and so lovely. We have deer grazing on the beach, and highland cattle outside our hostel.
